Watch and Learn How to Eat Sushi: You’ve Been Doing it Wrong – Coming to you straight from the sushi chef’s mouth, Munchies presents the dos and don’ts of eating sushi, as taught by Tokyo’s Naomichi Yasuda. Be warned: You’ve been doing it wrong. – Munchies
This is pretty interesting. I knew the rules about dipping the sushi upside down and only the fish touches the soy sauce (makes sense because of the rice, right?) but I didn’t know that rule about shaking off soy sauce being disrespectful or the part about not mixing the ginger with anything. I’m good for mixing up the ginger and the wasabi and the soy sauce into a nice juicy mash up of flavors. Good to know. Full set of rules here.
I want to find out more about Yasuda. *
And I want to watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi again. One of the best documentaries I’ve seen in the last few years.
* Random side note * a few years back, I had the wild idea that I wanted to quit everything and apprentice at a sushi shop and become a sushi chef. I still want to do it, but yeah #dreams
* Nowwwww, I remember where I knew Yasuda from, the Anthony Bourdain discovers Tokyo episode.
