Terrence J. stars as Charlie, a playboy who’s convinced that relationships are dead. His two best friends, Donald Faison and Robert C. Riley, bet him that if he sticks to one woman for one month, he’s bound to get attached. Charlie denies this until he crosses paths with the beautiful and mysterious Eva, played by singer/actress Cassie. They may agree to a casual affair, but eventually Charlie is questioning whether he may actually want more.
First things first, this trailer to me (and I’m sure a lot of other people) looks like a 2016 take on Boomerang. Normally, that would be a bad thing, because I personally would say that Boomerang is one of the best movies made in the romantic-comedy genre, ever. Like seriously. It was good when it came out, it had an incredible cast, and it is insanely rewatchable be it on DVD, one of these streaming sites, or you happen to catch it on Home Box Office or another cable channel.
So, to put it mildly, the bar is set very high if you are going to bite. I think, from the trailer at least, they did a pretty good job with this so I’m ok with it. And, they have the cast looking very right. That’s what I want from a movie like this.
The movie stars Terrence J from 106 and Park, E!, and various other projects that you are familiar with, but I’ll throw out the North Carolina A&T thing. Its a black college, I went to Morehouse, so I’m going to support this brother out here making moves forever just based on that.
Donald Faison, most notably from Scrubs for many people, I know him as one of the cats I see around the general Sherman Oaks/Studio City area that I live in – and from Scrubs too, one of my favorite shows of all times.
Dascha Polanco, from Orange is the New Black aka someone I would loooooooove to know and be boo’d up with. Lauren London, from ATL and things. Another chick I would not be mad at being boo’d up with.
Joe Pantoliano aka Joey Pants, aka you KNOW him from a ton of stuff.
Paula Patton, another beautiful woman who you know from a lot of stuff, I know her randomly as one of the baddest chicks I have ever seen in person. I used to go to music stuff all over town and back when she was wifey to Robin Thicke, I went to one of his shows at this place called The Garage and she was in the cut just enjoying the music and before I know they were married, I tried to holler and she shut me down before I even got a word out. But she’s that fine that I don’t even care. I took my shot.
And then, there is Cassie. Cassandra Ventura. Aka, the most attractive woman in the planet. I’ll go see this movie, JUST to see her on a 60 foot tall screen. I’m not going to say much more because Puff might see this.
From what I have seen in the trailer and heard from Terrence who is currently doing the interview circuit is that with the Boomerang vibe to it, there is a feeling that the movie is a little formulaic and the guy meets the girl, there is some drama, and then they sort it out and get back together and everyone is happy in the end. He’s telling it like that not necessarily is the way this ends and that the woman might “win” in the end and its not happily ever after. I’m ok with that. Cassie should win everything.
I’m looking forward to checking this out though. Can’t wait until March 11th!
