I will say though, the shit I make turns out really, really good.
…and you know, with this recipe, the disclaimer is old gold. I was looking for a video to post, as an example because I didn’t shoot my own, and I noticed one thing – in every video that I found when I searched ‘frozen banana, chocolate, peanut butter’, the person doing the recipe was doing waaaaaaaaaay too much. People are adding vanilla extract, two different kinds of chocolate chips and candy bars, and salt, and greek yoghurt and all kinds of shit just doing the most.
I need easy, simple, executable, “guys recipes” and no one really had anything that I could find in the first 5 or so pages of google and youtube.*
Frozen bananas. Cocoa. Peanut butter.
That’s it, thats the list. Maybe a little bit of salt in the peanut butter, and then some alkali (wtf that is!). Throw it in a blender/food processor/bullet/etc. and let it ride for a couple of minutes and you are good to go.
I think it turned out pretty ok to be quite honest, I just need to figure out the measurements that I want to use going forward and blend it for longer so it comes out smoother. If you are cool with a mousse type of feel you can eat it straight like that. If you want to go more ice-cream’y with it, throw it in the ice box for an hour or two depending up how firm you want it to turn out.
* As far as my ‘guys cookbook,’ I have an idea about a book that I think would work verrrry well.
I’d call it EVERY GUY’s COOKBOOK. and it would be pretty much the same as every other cookbook, but the layout would be different. I would have dinner prepared in 2 or 3 different ways. One way would be the ‘for you’ way. The basic ingredients. But easy enough to cook in a couple of steps and will convey the taste and feel of what you want but not have you in the kitchen for hours or trying to get your Bobby Flay on. Then I would the ‘for you and…’ way. So now, its the same meal, but prepared like you should if you are cooking dinner for a guest and you want to impress her or him.
So, as an example we can use this dessert and my recipe vs. the foofoolala stuff I found on the internets, or even something like a basic meat and potatoes meal. If I was cooking for me, I’d get a steak, throw some S&P on it, and either throw it on the grill and make some french fries or a baked potato with some carrots on the side. But, when I cook for a young lady, I’d cook two steaks wet aged steaks, with rosemary garlic butter baste, grilled in a cast iron grill. I’d make either some mashed sweet potato’s with a hint of sriracha, and for my vegetable side I’d make some sort of grilled broccolini thingy or some coconut milk ‘creamed’ spinach.
Both meals, are pretty much the same, but the execution is so much more over the top for the dinner for two than the meal I’d cook myself. I could knock out my own meal in 10 minutes start to finish but I could make a production out of the second.
I don’t know if this makes sense to anyone else but me.
