Earlier this week I received some potatoes carrots and fresh herbs in my FFTY CSA delivery…. today at work, I had a strange hankerin’ for a roast (a co-worker told me that prime roast was on sale at the market for $3.99) so I decided to hook up a slow cooker roast this evening for dinner.
I looked up random recipes and found the “Hidden Valley Ranch” recipe which consisted of dry ranch dressing, dry italian dressing and a dry brown gravy pack as the seasoning mix, 1 cup of water and an onion…. I’m never one to follow recipes and the market I go to decided to switch around the aisles so all I found was dry ranch and a pot roast seasoning mix to use. I was good with that.
So, to recap, I used ranch mix, pot roast mix, water, onion, carrots, potatoes, garlic and rosemary for my roast. Cut the pots and carrots, line the bottom of the pot. Slit the roast in a couple of places and shove whole garlic cloves into those slits. Place the roast over the potatoes and carrots – throw in some rosemary – and pour the seasonings mixed with water over the roast. Turn on high for 4 hours, or low for 8 hours…. and either 4 or 8 hours later, you have dinner. Boom, you’re done.

I dont measure shit. I will add in something just because. I will pour a little beer in something if I happen to be drinking one. I’m just out’chea winging it.
I will say though, the shit I make turns out really, really good.
