Did You Know McDonald’s Made “Join the Crew” ANIME in Japan?

The google translate situation is mad fugazi, but here is the first line of it:

AKB48 Yui Yokoyama × Team 8 Okabe Lin × studio Kololi

I’m down with AKB48. I don’t know what a Team 8 is. I assume the stu is the agency that did the videos. There are several versions on the D’s youtube page and in doing a little bit of research, apparently, these come from a series of part-time workers recruitment videos in the Japan market.

McDonald’s is taking it to a whole new level with this. These are fxcking dope.

If you aren’t familiar with AKB48, they are a Japanese idol girl group named after the Akihabara (Akiba for short) area in Tokyo, where the group’s theater is located, and its original roster of 48 members based on a “idols you can meet” concept.

AKB48’s producer, Yasushi Akimoto, wanted to form a girl group with its own theater (unlike pop groups performing occasional concerts and seen on television) and performing daily so fans could always see them live.

As of December 2015, the group has expanded to include more than 130 members aged from their early teens to their mid-20s.

I got hip to them because of a deep dive on the internets one day that involved anime, but that’s a different story for a different day.
